Flight Suit Design Changes - 1939
Deletion of Small Diagonal Access Zipper
A single change in Fliegerkombi design went forward during 1939 (or possibly in the first months of 1940), and most likely resulted from early efforts to simplify construction and conserve war materiel. The small, front diagonal zipper, intended to provide access to the wearer's inner clothing, was eliminated. Unfortunately, no extant order details this change, or when exactly it was instituted.
Both summer weight and overwater suits from the 1939 period have been noted in this particular configuration.
